There is a lot to love about being in the lake area in the springtime but April is the start to our extended boating and summer season. Here are a few things we love about April on Lake Thurmond.
- The Masters Tournament takes place the first week of April each year. Augusta National is on full display with beautiful azaleas and perfectly manicured fairways. The additional entertainment in the surrounding city is a local favorite that we look forward every year.
- Spring Flowers and fresh green leaves. The forest comes alive with redbuds, dogwoods, and new leaves signaling the end of our winter season. The feeling of new life is hard not to love!
- Outdoor music and dining. While the local restaurants offer year ’round outdoor dining, April marks the time where we can reliably (and comfortably) eat outside while listening to local bands. It is hard to beat taking the boat to Willie Mac’s at Soap Creek Marina and cruising home accompanied by the setting sun.
- Long days. The extended daylight gives us plenty of time to get out for a walk where we see our neighbors and old and new friends. Spending evenings on neighbor’s porches or dinners on the lake are a few things we look forward to throughout the cooler months.
- Fresh Strawberries. The first week of April marks the beginning of berry season. The first signs of Gorosik’s berry farm stands marks the start of seasonal goodness. Strawberries are followed by blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, and melons. Ahhh!
Come enjoy April with us!
